We are looking for motivated and bright people with an interest in private equity and working in a startup environment.  At K Squared, you will have an opportunity to make an impact within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.  You will become an expert on the fund’s investment strategy, be exposed to live deals and have an opportunity to manage deals from end to end.  We employ techniques used in traditional private equity as well as startups (e.g. lean, agile, growth marketing, etc.).  Our internships include a level of training and experience that cannot be found elsewhere.  Our Processes, Knowledge base, Training Videos are designed to simplify our analyses and facilitate your transition to the team.  At present, our internships are unpaid.  There will be full-time opportunities with the fund and / or portfolio companies.  We are prepared to provide letters of recommendation and introductions to our networks.  Colorado candidates are preferred but NOT required.

Investment Banking and Private equity are highly competitive, but with the right skills and knowledge, they are also extremely rewarding.  This position represents a unique opportunity for candidates pursuing a career in investment banking or private equity.

Our internships offer in-depth instruction and experience to prepare you for a career in private equity or investment banking.  In this role, you will further your knowledge of middle market private equity. You will evaluate potential investments, leading due diligence, develop financial models, create valuations (comparable companies, analyze comparable transactions, DCF, LBO) and structure transactions. 

Using actual, live deals, our internships examine the complexities of each opportunity where you will acquire a firm grounding in deal origination, business model analyses, financial analyses and valuation (comparable companies, comparable transactions, LBO, DCF) and much more. Also, you will learn all the Excel functions and research shortcuts that will help you build useful financial and opportunity analyses.


  • Lead due diligence, model financial models and build valuations (comparable companies, comparable transactions, LBO and DCF)

  • Preparation of deal memos, indications of interest, letters of intent and review of transaction documentation

  • Lead other projects and teams as needed


  • MBA candidate and/or equivalent experience in Investment Banking, Private Equity or Venture Capital experience

  • Demonstrated competency in financial statement analysis and valuations

  • Ability to commit a minimum of 15 hours per week during the school year

  • Superior work ethic, a strong desire to learn, and an uncompromising attention to detail

  • Access and experience to some or all of the following data sources (IBIS, CapitalIQ, Pitch Book, PrivCo, etc.)

  • Previous investment banking or private equity experience preferred


Do you want to help entrepreneurs? We're looking for savvy, data-driven marketer to grow our community of entrepreneurs, engage them, and help convert them into leads. You should have command of digital and content marketing; you should enjoy being creative, and you should understand how to both build and convert a digital audience.


  • Optimize our marketing automation and lead nurturing processes through email, content, and social channels

  • Build and manage the company’s social media profiles, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.

  • Create blog content to promote our brand and engage fellow entrepreneurs

  • Conduct industry research to improve our marketing segmentation, content and origination

  • Conduct research (adwords, online reputation, etc.) to improve fund value proposition and positioning


  • Candidate for Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or business preferred

  • Commit a minimum of 10 hours per week during the school year

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (writing sample highly recommended)

  • Experience with Adobe or Google Analytics, CRM and Marketing automation (Sendgrid, Hubspot, etc.)

  • Understanding of A/B Testing, Funnel Analysis, Segmentation Analysis


This position presents a unique opportunity for highly-motivated individuals interested in a fast-paced, startup-like environment, or pursuing a transition into finance. In this role, you will gain valuable experience by sourcing investment opportunities, screening investment opportunities, developing financial models and creating valuations.


  • Identify investment opportunities through research and outreach

  • Screen investment opportunities and evaluate fit with our investment criteria

  • Assist in due diligence which will likely include financial modeling, valuations and drafting deal memos

  • Contribute to marketing research, marketing, and origination as needed


  • Experience financial modeling including discounted cash flows analysis, transaction value analysis, comparable company analysis
