At K Squared, you will have an opportunity to make an impact within a fast-paced, environment.  We look for candidates with an interest in private equity and working in a entrepreneurial environment. During our internship program, you will become an expert on the fund’s investment strategy, be exposed to live deals and have an opportunity to manage deals from end to end. 

We employ techniques used in traditional private equity (e.g. DCF, LBO, Comparable Analysis, etc.) as well as startups (e.g. lean, business model canvas, growth marketing, etc.).  Our Training, Knowledge Base, and Mentorship prepare and support each candidate during and well after the internship program.

Our program includes a level of training, experience and value that cannot be found elsewhere.  At present, our internships are unpaid. However, there will be full-time opportunities with the fund and / or portfolio companies.

Analyst

This position presents a unique opportunity for highly-motivated individuals interested in a fast-paced, startup-like environment, or pursuing a transition into finance. In this role, you will gain valuable experience by sourcing investment opportunities (aka origination), screening investment opportunities, analyzing businesses, developing financial models and creating valuations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify investment opportunities through company research and outreach

  • Evaluate investment opportunities and fit with our investment criteria

  • Assist in due diligence which will likely include financial modeling, valuations and drafting deal memos

  • Contribute to research, marketing, and origination as needed

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR...

  • Intellectual curiosity, integrity, and resourcefulness

  • Excellent analytical, research, organizational, written and oral communication skills

  • Experience financial modeling including discounted cash flows analysis, transaction value analysis, comparable company analysis

  • Access and experience to some or all of the following data sources (IBIS, CapitalIQ, Pitch Book, etc.)

  • Minimum of 10 hours per week during the school year

Associate

This position represents a unique opportunity for candidates pursuing a career in investment banking, private equity or venture capital. In this role, you will further your knowledge of middle market private equity. You will evaluate potential investments, analyze businesses qualitatively and qualitatively and have an opportunity to lead a team through diligence.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze businesses qualitatively and quantitatively (e.g. Porter’s Five Forces, management accounting and benchmarking)

  • Create valuations (e.g. comparable companies, comparable transactions, DCF, LBO) and structure transactions

  • Lead due diligence, author deal memos, indications of interest, letters of intent and review of transaction documentation

  • Lead other projects and teams as needed

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR...

  • Intellectual curiosity, integrity, and resourcefulness

  • MBA candidate and/or equivalent experience in Investment Banking, Private Equity or Venture Capital

  • Demonstrated competency in financial statement analysis and valuations

  • Superior work ethic, a strong desire to learn, and an uncompromising attention to detail

  • Excellent analytical, research, organizational, written and oral communication skills

  • Access and experience to some or all of the following data sources (IBIS, CapitalIQ, Pitch Book, etc.)

  • Minimum of 10 hours per week during the school year

  • Previous experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital preferred
